the colour scheme, music and sound effects all fit the art style really well. animations to the main character would add a lot to the game. the level is really cartoon like but could have harder enemies and a more obvious win. there could also be a requirement to finish the level, for example, the player needs to collecta all the coins, or collect a minimum.

overall, i love the artstyle and audio, the game could use some animations and other tasks for the player to complete.

high points:

  • the pixel art style and bright colour scheme set the atmosphere well, and portray the player character in an upbeat and cute way
  • the animations for the sharks in the water are smooth and effective in letting the player know it is a 'death zone'

suggested improvements:

  • using the tiles to make the level more vertical, to give a bit more variety to the ground structure

The pixel art is awesome, especially Stanley duck's. The movement felt nice and the platforms were positioned well. The end of the level could have been presented a little bit clearer. Overall verdict, God of War has nothing on this.

THIS IS GENIUS, INNOVATIVE CONTENT, THIS MUST BE NOMINATED FOR GAME OF THE YEAR AWARD!

In all seriousness though, pretty good for a start, platforming is pretty alright, I didn't come into any major game-breaking bugs or anything so that is quite good. The music is well fitting for this style, it seems like quite a cute style and definitely the music fits with this, animations should be added too. Also the ending music was great and the artwork at the end to show the end of the demo was really well done! if you are going to work on this anymore I would say add some extra levels of new settings, overall definitely great for a start off demo game, also I read the Basic premise, the idea of the mysterious goose being chased by the duck to get their book back is a pretty amazing and funny concept, I was saying to myself, "its the opposite of the duck duck goose game, now the duck is chasing the goose? GENIUS!". I love this idea. Overall very cute game and a great start for a 2D platformer adventure.
